Peermade

Peermade lies at an altitude of 915 meter above sea level. The Hill resort of Peermade lies 85km east of Kottayam and lies in the Western Ghats.

Peermade is a beautiful hill station, that looks even more beautiful, thanks to lots of coffee, tea, coconut and rubber plantations.

On your tour of Peermade, you can tour two famous tea factories, which are in Pattumala and see how tealeaves are processed. While you are at Pattumala you can also visit the Velamkany Matha Church and the flower garden. Peermade is 22 KM from Vagamon.

Thekkady

Periyar tiger Reserve, Thekkady, is an example of nature’s bounty, with great scenic charm, rich bio diversity and providing veritable visitor satisfaction. Sprawled over an area of 777 Sq .km., Periyar is one of the 27 tiger reserves in India.

Zealously guarded and efficiently managed reserve is a repository of rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna and forms the major watershed of two important rivers of Kerala, the Periyar and Pamba. The diatance between Vagamon to Thekkady is 45 KM.

Parunthumpara

Parunthumpara is a beautiful hilly area filled with a big rock. It gives a panoramic view of the entire Peermade region attracting lots of tourists.The word parunth in the local language means Eagle and para means rock. It is called Parunthumpara or eagle rock. It is 33 km from Vagamon,and 3 km From National Highway 220. (Kottayam Kumily Road). This area provides a bird's eye view of an endless stretch of green forest land and low-lying areas. During the pilgrimage season one can see the light of the famous Sabarimala Temple from here. It is 33 Km from vagamon.

Panchalimedu

Panchalimedu is Situated at an attitude of about 2500 feet above sea level, Panchali Medu is an adventurer's slot. According to legends, 'Pandavas' (heroes of the epic – Mahabharata) stayed here, during their exile from their Kingdom. Here, a small Temple with a pond (in which Panchali - wife of the Pandavas, used to bathe as the legend goes) can also be seen. It is 25 Km from vagamon.

Gavi

Gavi is inside the Periyar Tiger reserve, and can be reached by car. Forest tent camping is available from November through March. The rough journey to Gavi may better be made on a sturdy vehicle like jeep which are available on hire. Entry passes must be obtained from the Forest Check Post enroute at Vallakkadavu. The distance between Vagamon To Gavi is 62 KM.

Munnar

Munnar is the most famous hill station of Kerala and one of the best three in India. Situated at an altitude of 1600 m above sea level, 'Munnar' essentially means 3 rivers. The place is home to the amalgamation of 3 mountain streams, namely, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. The British Government in the colonial times used this hill station of southern India as their summer resort, tea plantations of which are still preserved, resulting in Munnar possessing some of the highest tea estates in India today.

Nature with arms wide open at Munnar compels a person to come and visit this enchanting city. An integral part of the triangular tourist circuit of Madurai-Munnar-Cochin, it is enveloped with Tea and Spice gardens. An ultimate holiday spot for animal lovers and adventurous people, Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2695 m and is an ideal spot for trekking.

Numerous waterfalls, lakes, streams, green hilly slopes and valleys mark the appearance of Munnar, Kerala, South India. A vast variety of plants having medicinal value are grown and used by Ayurveda practitioners for therapy. Munnar is also home to a large number of flora and fauna, amidst which the Neelkurinji plant from the Nilgiri hills holds prominence. The Neelkurinji is special because of its distinctive color and its property to blossom once in every 12 years. The nest bloom is due in 2018. The distance between Vagamon To Munnar is 99 KM.

Idukki

Surrounded by the Western Ghats in the East, Idukki lies at an altitude of 2500 feet above sea level. One of the most beautiful districts in Kerala, Idukki was carved out of Devikulam in 1972. The place derives its name from Malayalam word 'Idukku' which means a narrow gorge.

Numerous narrow steep- sided valleys, high ranges and wooded valleys gives weight to the name Idukki. The sacred river Pamba also originates from the mountain ranges here. Idukki offers diverse places of interests to the tourists visiting it ranging from mountain treks to spice plantations and wild life sanctuaries. The place witnesses moderate climate throughout the year.
